I CAN RUN AGAIN!!! Of course, this week is one of my busiest in the evenings so I don't know when I'll cram one in, but I assure you I will. I think I'll ease into it with pilates tomorrow night! Such a relief and blessing!!

It's In My Blood

Sorry I've been :MIA for the past week. To make a long story short (and less disgusting) I had cyst (totally nothing to worry about - just painful) removed from my leg last week. After some not so successful procedures (again, sparing you the gross details), Friday the doctor made a one inch incision and removed it. Goodness gracious, that was painful. But I'm on the road to recovery and all is well. 

I have learned a few things from this past week though.

1. We take our health for granted. I spent all weekend in bed, sore, tired and doped up on antibiotics and pain pills. I couldn't wait to get out of bed and come to work today.

2. Running is in my blood. I never (ever) thought I'd say that, but all week the one thing I missed most was running.  I need to remember this on the days I don't feel like running.

3. I like being active much more than being sedentary. Sure, laying around all weekend sounds nice, but I definitely craved sunshine, interaction and fun. I need to remember this when I feel like I've taken on too much. 

4. My doctor is awesome. That really doesn't have anything to do with the price of tea in China as a life lesson, but it's true.

I have a follow-up appointment in just a few minutes. Fingers crossed I can lace up my running shoes again soon!

(Super Hilly) 5k Complete!

Happy Monday, y'all! I'm feeling pretty happy today! You know when you have those moments where you're just like, "Wait a second. My problems are nothing and my blessings are enormous. Life is good"? Well I'm in that kind of mood.

The weekend was great - very laid back and relaxed. Saturday morning I ran a 5k through North Hills by myself in preparation for a 5k my dad and I are running this weekend. Overall, I was happy with  my time. I'm still (so so so) slow, but I thought I did well considering it was an extremely hilly course!

HELP: Protein Powder

I PROMISE this is my last random health food topic for a while. But again, I need your help. I'm looking to buy a delicious protein powder to add to shakes and smoothies. I want it to have great nutritional stats, but taste yummy too!

Can y'all please provide some suggestions? What's your favorite protein powder?

Help: Nutritional Yeast

More on health foods today. Do any of y'all use nutritional yeast? I've read awesome things about it, but wanted to know your opinion. I love cheese and am most definitely not a vegan, but the nutritional benefits sound amazing. I know it's good for me, but really, how does it taste? And what do you sprinkle it on/use it in?

Chia Seeds

Morning y'all! I bought chia seeds about a month ago after reading about their amazing health benefits all over the blogosphere and just got around to trying them. I had an oatmeal creation with oats, chia seeds, milk and a spoonful of nutella (couldn't be too healthy!).

Have you guys tried them? Please tell me how you used them! I loved them in my oatmeal, but would love to incorporate them in more dishes.

Who Am I?

I hope everyone had a marvelous Easter! Mine was happy and filled with family, friends, relaxation and merriment!

Are y'all indulging in whatever you gave up for Lent today? As you know, I gave up shopping. I missed it sometimes, but it wasn't too much of a struggle. That doesn't mean, however, I wasn't ready to buy something today.

The first thing I bought post-deprivation? A Garmin watch to track my runs.

Wait. What? Hold the phone.

I didn't buy a dress. Or shoes. Or jewelry. I bought a watch to track my runs. Who the heck am I? This whole running thing may have just gotten in my blood a little...

Perfect Concert Outfit

It's Wednesday, but it's my Friday! That's the best kind of Wednesday.

Tonight is the Red Hot Chili Peppers concert! I'm not going to have a lot of time when I get home to get ready so I need your help! What is the perfect concert outfit? Remember, it's Lent so I can't go shopping, but I have a pretty stocked closet. 

We'll be tailgating in a parking lot from about 5:30 on (it's 80 degrees here today) and then in a box inside an arena.

Relaxation Station

The things people search that lead them to my blog make me laugh. By far the most searched term is "relaxation station." I think I've mentioned the relaxation station a grand total of one time. It is, however, worthy of much praise. For those of you who don't know, the relaxation station is a giant float for...relaxing. Our is tied to our dock.

It was my birthday, but I'm pretty sure I've worn a crown on there when it wasn't. Anything sort of goes when you're on the relaxation station. So, since so many of you search for this, tell me, do you have a relaxation station? Do you love it? Or are you in the market for one? Personal opinion -

Three Day Work Week!

I have a super short week at work this week. We have Friday off for Easter, but I decided to make it an extra long weekend and take Thursday too. A bunch of us are going to the Red Hot Chili Peppers concert Wednesday night. We have a box - should be a blast!
